curation as an art form
it takes effort to perceive something as an art form. it is easy to be messy, do things in hurry, and get it functional. but it takes time to write a good blog, paint a good painting, or craft a furniture.
as they say, good things take time.
it also creates a misconception that you need to be an expert on something to do it well. I think the very act of curation can also create an impact on what you are doing. an effort to create your profile, a blogpost, a timeline/feed, writing good code, or arranging your own room. everything is an act of curation. it takes efforts. the reward is beautiful too.
curation does not require a rocket science. it requires you a sense of alignment and a vision of what you want it to be. then you put out the things according to what looks/or moves toward your vision. it does not necessarily has to be the exact same replica of what is inside your head (i do not believe it is actually possible) but it can come close. speaking mathematically, limit tending to zero.
why should we pursue curation ? because they help us perceive things better. a good curation does not only make things easy for you, it makes things easy for eyes, and mind. it makes thing looks effortless and reduce anxiety. it helps us make difficult choices with easy. a library with no labels will take you hours to select right book for you, but a well organised shelves and columns can save a lot of your time. it helps the discovery easy.
it helps you to slow down and make way for things so that they flow in the right order. it is hard. in the world were things are expected of you to be fast-paced, curation is rather a slow process which takes up headspace and time. it comes with certain annoyance at times when you are not sure what you what, whether something is right for you, or if you want it to be that way ever.
the validation and gratification of a well curated piece that comes after and the effort which takes a form of pride are the goals of a well curated piece. a curated piece which is an art form.
